What are the common sealing materials

Commonly used sealing materials are divided into the following four categories:

1. Fibre and elastomeric body materials　

There are asbestos, leather, rubber, polytetrafluoroethylene plastic, etc., is the main material for manufacturing gaskets, soft packing, molding packing, oil seals and other sealing products. Under the action of lower sealing force, it can obtain large elastic-plastic deformation, which has a strong role in blocking the seal and preventing leakage.

2. Friction reduction and anti-wear materials　

There are carbon materials, bearing alloys, cemented carbide, overlay alloys, engineering ceramics, spraying materials, etc.. It has good heat resistance, cold resistance and high thermal conductivity, is the manufacture of mechanical seals, piston rings and gap seals and other dynamic sealing device friction sub-materials.

3. Metal and non-metallic materials　

There are non-ferrous metals, ferrous metals, hard alloys, precious metals, etc., used in the manufacture of sealing products in addition to the friction of other parts.

4. Grease and solid lubricants　

Used in sealing and lubrication systems and as impregnants and additives for soft fillers.
